Hello, I have been looking to fix a startup problem with my skidsteer. My father and I have had problems with this thing for as long as we've had it. Now, it starts fine when I switch it into maintenance mode, but when it is switched back to run mode it just doesn't get ignition, it turns over but it doesn't catch. I have made sure the auxiliary hydraulics handle is locked and from what I have read it seems to it might be electrical. Some say it could be a faulty diode, and as I am young and inexperienced I wouldn't have the slightest idea of how to fix this problem. Is there a diagram of the fuse/electrical box in the engine compartment that someone has?

this is one of those posts on the diode in a 185b may or may not help you.

I have an '05 LS185.b that all of a sudden stopped working electrically. Turned out to be a plug-in diode located inside the main fuse box. It is black rubber and looks sort of like a 2-wire trailer hitch connector. I beleive there are two diodes in the fuse box. I keep a spare diode zip-tied to the wire harness next to the one that blew. New ones are $15 each. BTW when this happened in Oct of '05 this machine was trained-on by NH technicians. It took the dealer a week to find the problem

that sure didnt look like that before I posted it, just use a magnifiing glass.

If you have a service/run switch then there are not any diodes in the system except what is integrated in the instrument panel.
When starting, with the service/run switch in run, the power goes from the ign switch to the service run switch through the service/run switch to the start interlock relay. The interlock relay is in the engine compartment fuse panel. It is the long relay. The relay is where I would start. There should be a wiring diagram in the operators manual.
