Machine has been sitting for a few months inside. After trying to jump existing battery I connected fully charged new battery directly .When I try to start I sit in seat, buckle seat belt, all the dash lights are on.Turn key and all the lights go out and no start. This can be repeated several times and still no start.I'm thinking seat switch or belt switch.Any ideas would be appreciated.

On mine , sit in seat all lights come on then go off except for brake and seatbelt, buckle belt and they go out and rpm orange light is on, turn key on and engine oil and battery light flash and glow countdown will start until turned to start. Have you tried it in service mode?

Did you try flipping the switch over to service mode? Also, it this a different battery you are trying, or the same battery? Did you check the battery terminals for corrosion?

The battery is new and is 100% charged.I did try to start in service mode with same results. All fuses have been checked and are good.I'm thinking bad key switch because when I turn key to start, panel lights go out.

Since it will not start in the service position, I would start at the start relay. There are two relays under the engine fuse panel. They have plastic covers over them. The one to the outside is the start relay. Remove the cover. Put the service run switch into service and have someone turn the key to start. You should have power at one of the little terminals.

Did you remove the dead battery so the new one is the only connected? It does sound like a poor connection.

Jerry.I did by pass the dead battery and went directly to the new battery and still seems like when turning key on something shorts dash lights. Then I un buckle belt get off seat sit back down on seat and all the lights come back on.Buckle belt and turn key then all the lights go out and motor won't crank.

Have you had a chance to check the start relay as Mike outlined? seems like a likely culprit.

The reason I want you to check the start relay in the service position is you by-pass all the electronics and safety switches. All you have is the key switch, service run switch, start relay and finally the starter relay itself.
In the run position the warning lights should light up when you sit in the seat. They will remain lit for a couple of seconds and then they will go out except for the park brake and seat belt light. Fastening the seat belt will put out the lights. The lights should not even be on when you turn the key to the start position. The only exception are one of the four lights across the top and the digital display. I think they will go out when the key is turned to the start position.
If the lights only come on when you turn the key to the on position then the service run switch is in the service position.
My guesst is the start relay or the starter itself.

I am having the same problem.. can someone tell me where the starter relay is at so I can check it? Thanks Scott

In the engine compartment on the firewall fuse box. There are two large relays on the bottom, the one on the left is the start relay the one on the right is for engine preheat. above the start relay on the right is the starter interlock relay.
