I have a 2003 LS 160 that is running hot and will shut off. The water pump is fine as the system is pressurized and it is forcing coolant out the overflow jug on the door. There is no coolant in the oil and it blows a lot of black smoke (more than normal). Air filter is good. Earlier this morning there was some white smoke and ran a little rough, but I moved it to work on it. I started it to assess the problem this afternoon and it started doing the overheat/black smoke. It also has low power. It is a high hour unit, but was hoping to make it to fall to trade in on a new one. Any help is greatly appreciated

Just because coolant is coming out of the overflow is no indication the water pump is good. Have you cleaned the radiator ? White smoke sounds like head gasket though.

Radiator was cleaned and used degreaser/oven cleaner on it. The water pump is less than a year old.

Does the coolant look the right color. Often if a head gasket is bad it will leak fuel/ exhaust into the coolant turning it grey/black and the pressure builds in the rad causing the rad cap to vent the excess, and often overheating too.
