Hello all, I have a general question regarding hydraulic temperature. I have a 96 Thomas TH173 skidsteer, what is the normal temp range of the hydraulic temperature? After use a few week ago I noticed the the hydraulic reservoir was hot to the touch. How hot is normal? The day was about 85 degrees mostly.

well I do not know how your hydro oil is cooled, but my machine the radiator the intercooler and the hydro oil cooler are all put together and cooled by one multi speed fan,so that system would operate below at what the engine thermostat is, this is kinda a guess 160 degree F. at the hottest i would think. make sure you clean as best as you can your hydro oil cooler ,if it has its own fan make sure it is coming on, some are on thermo. switches so it will have to warm up before it operates.

Hi Foton, that's a great suggestion! However the cooling system has a separate cooler on the back of the radiator unlike yours. It does have a belt driven fan to cool both radiator and attached hydraulic cooler. I never thought the cooler could be plugged or restricted lowering the flow/volume to cool. Now you got me thinking if this is an original setup from the manufacturer. I'll have look into further. Next time I run it, I'll check with a infrared temperature meter. Any other info would be great! Tks!

Oops, my bad the cooler is attached in front of the radiator on the access door. Here's a pic the hoses going to it are at least and inch in diameter as u can see.
