Just bought the machine a few months ago and the coolant temp gauge needle never raises above the full cold mark. I also have a coolant temp warning light on. I checked the fuses, i checked the coolant sensor at the thermostat and i found no power to the sensor. I pulled off both control panels and i didnt see anything loose, broken or corroded at the coolant temp gauge, at the ignition switch and at the warning light cluster. I cant seem to find the correct wiring diagram. Serial number 519011159 Thanks for any help. I dont like using it without knowing the engine temp. Scares the shit out of me.

look at the back of the gauge there needs to be 12 volts on a lug on the back, if you can figure out which one is supposed to be hot off the key switch , you can run a jumper there(if there is no power) with the engine at least warm and see if the gauge then shows anything.

My coolant temp gauge is a part of a control board included with the fuel gauge and hydraulic control buttons. Its one board with 1 large connector. The coolant temp gauge does its sweep test when the key is tirned on but it stays at the cold mark and never moves.

it sounds like maybe its checking or verifying connections when you turn the key on. take the wire loose from the sensor. turn the key on and see if it changes the way it did before you took the wire off. if it does then change out your sensor. you also can call bobcat. they usually have a tech close by that will help you with any questions you may have. they have been very helpful to me when I call them in Columbia Missouri. you also can go to bobcats web site and pull up the wiring diaghram.

All the gauges do a sweep test when key is turn to the on position. Inchecked the sensor but theres no power to it. All the manuals i downloaded have a different wiring diagram. I can figure it out if i can just find the correct wiring diagram.

You have no power to any pins on the connector? I'd suspect you should have 5v, being computer controlled.

I only checked for power at the coolant temp sensor connector at the thermostat housing. It has no power going to the temp sensor. I dont have a wiring diagram to figure out which wire i need to check at the control panel.

You should have power at the sensor, just not sure what voltage.
If you look up my profile, can you send me an email as a reminder? i'll look to see if i have a manual with a diagram that may help you.

Thanks tazza but i was unable to open any of the files. Is there a way you can just send me the wiring diagram only instead of the manual? Appreciate it.
Sadly no, i don't have the software to cut parts out, were you not able to get 7zip to make it into one file again?
I can upload it to google drive if that helps

Update. I replaced the sensor just because it was almost 20 years old and same issue. There is a fault code for high resistance of coolant temp sensor. This fault came up with both the old and new coolant temp sensor. I connected both wires at the coolant temp sensor creating a short to see if the fault would change and it did. Fault code changed from high resistance to short to ground on the panel. The sensor obviously works, the wiring to the computer is working. I can only assume its the computer or wiring to the display since its triggering a fault code when there is no fault. The gauge stays at cold and the coolant temp light stays on all the time. Any suggestions?

I have no idea on the repair but I think you should at least put in a temp temp. gauge either electric or mechanical. Until you get it figured out or it is just parked.

We're you ever able to find the problem with temperature gauge not working.

I did not. I replaced the coolant temp sensor and there was no change. I checked the wiring to the coolant temp sensor and it had voltage and ground. I touched the 2 coolant temp wires together and the display fault code changed from high resistance circuit to low resistance circuit. This confirmed that the sensor, wiring and control unit were working fine. I concluded that the temp gauge was bad. Unfortunately the temp gauge is part of the display unit so I didn't replace anything and just decided to live with the bad coolant temp gauge.

I pulled the guage on my 773 and disassembled it. The power resistor was burned and the diode popped as well. Soldered in those two devices and reassembled. Works like brand new.

Hey Digital, welcome to the forum. My hour meter stopped working so I took it apart and it looks like the coil thingy corroded on the one side. Do you know what this part is and if I could replace it?
