    873 Sheared Flywheel Bolts

The parking brake, as well as all the other safety features were bypassed or missing when I bought the machine, so it does roll. I ended up towing it up to my shop after the guy who answered the phone in the service department of my local bobcat dealership told me it was no problem to do that...

    873 Sheared Flywheel Bolts

My 873 had been making a bit of a racket lately, which iI was having a hard time isolating. Then this afternoon it stopped running suddenly. The flywheel had detached from the crankshaft. How do I get it moved to a good spot to work on it (probably about 400 feet)? The manual says not to tow it...

873 Problem of the Day- Won't back up

Never mind, it turned out to be an easy fix. A bolt dropped out of the end of the pipe that the control handle links to.

873 Problem of the Day- Won't back up

I've posted some other problems I've had with this machine I shouldn't have bought, and gotten a lot of good info. So today's problem is that all of a sudden I can't get it to go backwards with any conviction. I was impressed that it started without working glow plugs at 10 degrees F, and it...

    Rusting Out Chain Case

I've got an 873 that I bought last fall. This morning I noticed a new leak, and upon investigation realized that it is oil from the chain case leaking out of a small hole in the underside. There are also a couple of wet spots that I'm sure will start leaking soon. Is there a good way to repair...

    Not enough reach (873)

So I bought this skid steer (first one I've owned) mostly to move round bales and to load bedding pack manure into the manure spreader. I've got a quick attach manure fork with what I'd guess are about 24 inch long tines. What I discovered yesterday when I started using it to load manure is that...

    873 Fuel Delivery Issue

Actually, I think you nailed it. I pulled the fuel line out of the tank and the line that attaches to the elbow broke off and fell back into the tank. I'm guessing it had a bad crack right there that was sucking air some of the time. I'm going out now to see if that's the whole problem.

    873 Fuel Delivery Issue

No, I put 5 gallons in when it started crapping out and it didn't make any difference.

    873 Fuel Delivery Issue

I've got an 873 that I bought about a month ago. The latest problem that I'm having with it is that after running for about 5 minutes it acts like it's starved for fuel. I changed the fuel filter and the in line filter that I'm guessing someone decided it needed somewhere along the way, but that...

    1st skidsteer- 873

It came from central Pa, and I think I figured out which Bobcat dealer it probably went to. Ironically though, I did order what it think is the right oil cooler from Leppos on Saturday night. Thanks again for the info, I'll keep looking.

    1st skidsteer- 873

Thanks for the info. The only number I can find is on a casting that is just inside the right cover plate, that the front of the motor bolts to. It's a 7 digit number starting with 670 if I remember right, which doesn't seem like it would match up with the serial number from this machine. I'll...

    1st skidsteer- 873

My thought about the brokers as well. I've got the muffler off of it now, and the plate on the motor is pretty legible. I wonder if it's possible to cross reference the SN from there. I also took the plate off of the machine, hoping that maybe the numbers had been punched in and that I could...

    1st skidsteer- 873

Thanks for the info, it looks to me like you are right about it being a C-series. I guess it's still the most recent machine I own by a few decades. Any suggestion about what to do for parts without a SN? Will just knowing the series get me close enough? I tried getting a seat belt for it at the...

    1st skidsteer- 873

Hello everyone, I bought an 873 yesterday, and it's the first skid steer that I've owned, and for the most part operated. I've run farm tractors for most of my life, but I don't really know much about skid steers, and it looks like this site is a good place to learn what I'm going to need to...
