Like the idea of the locking gas/hydraulic tank caps, will have to hear from others to see if its available. Hard to imagine that someone would pour sand into a tank on expensive machinery like these.
Hey Melli, sorry about the man assumption, my bad. That vent could be for dearating the cooling system when filling. it sounds very close to the water pump. I hate leaving my equipment unattended, or even outside for that matter. BC may have an anti-tamper kit for your machine. HTH.

No worries at all... The cooling drain is below the fuel solenoid...can just see the lever in the shade.

I can't see it in the photo. Just a clarification: What are you calling the fuel solenoid? To me, it is the gold cylinder by the fan with the red, white, and black wires running to it. I can see a knob-looking thing just below the injection pump, above the oil pressure sender. Is that what you are referring to?

Yes, that's it. Just above the fuel solenoid linkage (where it says STOP). Below that is the engine block drain valve for coolant.

I see it.
That looks like the return line from the injectors connecting in the 2 o'clock position, but I have no idea what it does. Maybe one of the tech's will know.

Whereabouts are you? At those prices, I'd be tempted to rent a 35, if for no other reason than to check it out. I think my 331 Bobby is a tad bigger than the 35. Did I misread, or was the $1200 quoted in a previous post in reference to the cost of mechanic for the weekend?

I misread...lol. Up here it is $400/day for a trashed 331. Then another $200 roundtrip hauling expense...although, I now have a dump trailer to move Bobby... I wish I could have gotten my hands on a trashed 331 they had in the rental stock. They gave it away for a few grand. Would have been an awesome parts machine. Heck, it would have been great for exploratory surgery...! I must chat with the rental boss about the end of life of their remaining 331...lol

$1200 was the cost of a weekend rental machine from the Bobcat dealer. No mechanic.

What size dump trailer did you get and can you load Bobby up without feeling like you're going to tip over?

14k dump trailer. Loading always makes me nervous...haha. I'm sure I would feel much better about the process of loading/unloading if I had gotten a low rise flat deck, but I was trying to check off all the boxes with one trailer. It subs as a skid steer in moving slash/dirt on the property, hauls Bobby, and picks up materials from Rona. The one thing I never thought about before buying, was the walls of the dump trailer...they are too high to allow Bobby to turn around once on trailer. Although, the pics don't show it, I got two drop jacks welded on back end of trailer...a must for loading Bobby or dumping heavy crap. The whole pucker factor was alleviated considerably by getting those jacks welded on. Now, the trailer deck doesn't bounce around or WHY, when loading. The only concern is the ramps, but they are silly heavy, so I 'think' I am ok there... IMHO, the jacks made all the difference in the world. I've heard of a few horror stories from folks who jackknifed in the vertical, thereby losing trucks rear braking...the whole kit then drove off with operator partially loaded. Didn't end well on a couple of occasions... Me being me, I block all 8 wheels...I am never in a rush when (un)loading.

That's a nice dump trailer and it does seem like it would be ideal for skidsteers. I also like the idea of welding jacks in the back to stabilize it, if only the trailers weren't so pricey. Very nice though.

The idea for a dump trailer was enforced when the guy who bought my baby skidsteer 463, showed with a dump trailer to throw the skid into it. Of course, he didn't need jacks. He remarked that a dump trailer is the thing to get, as one doesn't need to tie it down...I assumed he knew what he was talking about, given he was a fed conservation officer. Naturally, I like whatever I am carrying to be tied down a million different ways....nonetheless, having walls does give added protection, of ones shit not flying off the trailer...like buckets. I got mine for 5k...just got lucky and bumped into a neighbour who was looking for cash. It is in half decent shape, but the main rails are really too small...prefer 8" over 6". Ram support cross member was undersized, and it was slightly bent from original owner. I suspect he did a vertical departure...he didn't say so, but he was vague about a few things. However, the box is over built with C channel. It weighs 4500lb empty... Would have been nice to have ramps slide under the back end.

Well melli you've given me a lot of things to think about as I wait for the right priced dump trailer. I'm watching craigslist frequently, and one day....

Just before I bought the one I have, I had lined up a new trailer from http://www.trailersplus.com as their prices are very reasonable. Bringing it across the border is a simple affair, other than having to drive down to get it (no wait at border, just pay GST and off you go). They are better and worse than the one I have, but at the end of the day, I was tight for money and went with the easy/cheaper solution.

Trailersplus.com has 7X14 Dump trailers ranging from $5859-6839 new. They look well built, lots of features and there is a dealer about 40 miles away. Might have to take a look. Thanks.

Melli, first off, as others have said that is one clean machine.
Now, I am curious, where is your battery. I am new to my machine, and the battery is right below the starter and I think has rubbed on the speed sensor and is causing some of my issues. There is no battery box and no hold downs. I see from your photo, that the battery on your machine does not appear to be in the same spot. Where is yours?

What type/year of machine do you have? Mine sits on a tray at the very front of hydraulic compartment. For some reason I don't have any new pics of that area, just an old one before I got busy cleaning and repainting. You can see top of battery in front of windshield washer fluid container.... Its a 2003 341. I was wondering if that was the spot. It is the only area on mine big enough to hold a battery, but I don't see any clamps or trays it would have set in. Looks like a real pita to get to too.

Initially it was a PITA. Then, I realized the lid stop on the hyd compartment had two stops. I took out the first stop and now the lid opens past vertical...makes life so much easier if a battery needs attention. I pulled the lid off, battery tray and whatnot to repaint and fix where necessary. The tray bolts into the body on side and uses the two bolts of hinge. Can probably fab one easily enough. I'll eventually post a pic of how the lid opens now, and how easy it is to access everything...the previous pic is before I had a chance to remove the first stop....no idea why there are two stops...safety sakes in case one breaks? The gas spring works using the last stop.
