Need 16-24hp Horizontal shaft engine

I am repowering a Rounder L600. It had a 16hp Onan from the factory. When I purchased it it had a 16hp Briggs. Now I am trying to find a resonably priced replacement for it. Who knows where the best priced engine in the 18-24hp range is? With link if possible. I don't care if its Kohler, Briggs, Honda, Knock-off or something else. As long as its horizontal shaft and has an air cleaner. I can add muffler and tank if needed.
The cheapest I have found for a new 18+ HP engine is about $1000 with no air clear. $1200 in the end.

Look for an Isuzu C201 from a Thermoking refer unit. there is one on ebay for $425 right now. I have one in my IH 3200b nice unit.

Here is the engine that I put into my Bobcat 440B. Still running great, very torquey.

Although PA is selling it as a Power Fist, it is actually a Launtop GT620 (Honda GX620 clone)

not sure how motor is coupled i have a 20hp onan performer with 1-7/16" shaft it has muffler /elec. fuel pump ect. not sure if there is room to put this in your machine?? the new v-motors are nice if there is a good cooling area for them . best to stay with a twin motor for less vibration

Keep an eye on craigslist, if you have it in your area. Right now in Salem there is a guy that has been trying to sell 3 18hp mills for a while now, he'd probably take $500 for the lot.
With that kind of savings you could do a lot of machine work / fabricating and have spares for when they run out or break down.
