I've spent some time getting the parking brake to operate correctly on my LX565. The brake components are quire expensive from the dealer so I machined my own brake pads (1 per side).

Here is a link to the LX565 Brake Puck - PLUG 9829942 drawing: https://cad.onshape.com/documents/c...53a351b439d95175ed/e/ed822c1c1c6247c2cf9b19bc

I used mild steel but brass or aluminum could also be used. There are (3) bolts that mount the caliper. Don't remove the center bolt or you will have to re-apply RTV to the caliper to seal the oil in the chain case.

The trick to getting the brakes to engage correctly is to adjust the arm on the caliper shaft. Here what worked:
1. Remove the (2) spring rods. I labeled them L and R on the top to avoid any possibility of problems going back together.
2. Removed the lever on each caliper acutuator screw. This will require lossening the 7/16 jam nut from the 1/4-20 bolt and then backing off the bolt to release the lever from the splined shaft.
3. Turn each splined shaft to engage the brake puck to the brake disc. Note: The RH caliper has a normal right-hand thread while the LH caliper has a left-hand thread.
4. Re-install the lever to each splined shaft of the caliper such that the caliper is fully engage to the brake disc (brake on) when the lever is in the horizontal position. Verify operation but pulling the lever up vertically to release brake (brake off) and then down to the horizontal position to engage brake (brake on).
5. Tighten the 1/4-20 bold and jam nut.
6. Connect the (2) spring rods and secure with new cotter pins. I found it helpful to orient the cotter pins with the long end on the bottom to allow a punch to spread the two halves from above, i.e. pushing down the bottom half to set the cotter pin.

I hope this helps someone that is tyring to get the parking brake fixed.
