A bit of help would be great. I have purchased a 2005 LS 180.b and it seems to work fine, but when I actuate the rock hound we purchased, it starts to work then the thing shuts down and the EIC looks like it is doing a reset. I hope it is a simple repair as I am at my wits end the wife wanted to rent and I bought.

Check the diode which is in the engine bay fuse box. It has 2 loose wires going to it--sort of like a pigtail terminated by a rubber cap. It is black rubber and looks similar to a trailer connector. They're about $15.

As long as your seat switch and seat belt switch are working properly the EIC should keep the engine running when the aux control is activated as long as the EIC is getting the power. Check the 15A fuse in the cab fuse panel. This fuse supplies power to the EIC using pins 23 and 24 in the instrument panel (EIC) connector. This fuse panel is by your head on the right side. There are two thumb screws securing the cover over the fuse block. Another possibliity is the 25A fuse in the engine compartment fuse panel. If this one blows power is not supplied to the run relay. Power from the run relay goes to the 15A fuse mentioned earlier. Looking at the wiring diagram I do not believe the diode would cause this problem since power goes through the diode to the fuel relay. Since your engine does run the fuel relay is being energized by the power going through the diode. The power coming from the EIC to keep the engine running when the aux control is used does not go through the diode. The wiring diagrams I am looking at contain a service/run switch and I am thinking all LS.B loaders had a service run switch. If I find a different diagram I will repost.

Clarification on previous post. There are two diodes in the system and it is possible the one supplying power to the run relay could cause this problem. I overlooked this diode because I was following the wiring from the EIC to the fuel relay which shuts the engine off. If the 25A fuse blows or this diode blows there should be other electrical malfunctions. The 25A fuse supplies power to four other fuses. The run relay diode has a orange wire and a dark green wire coming from it. To check this diode follow the dark green wire to the relay base it is attached to. Remove the relay from this base. The relay will have numbers embossed in its cover, either top or bottom. You are looking for terminal 86. With the KEY ON, use a test light on the corresponding terminal in the relay base. If you have power the diode is good. With the relay still removed you can check for power coming from the 25A fuse. This is terminal 30. If everyting is as it should be you should have power at two terminals in the relay base with the key switch on. I checked other diagrams without the service run switch and the power supply to the EIC is basically the same.

Thank you all for the suggestions, I will work on these today and get back to you. The machine works fine and runs unless I use the aux hyd - then it shuts off, but restarts and works fine - this is in both directions of the aux hyd lever - right control. I have the workshop manual and the parts manual but no operator manual. Also there is a switch on the control that looks like a hyd cyl and has a #2 on it - any ideas on this or how to get the operator manual - tradebit only has one for a 180 no B and it is a 1999 pub.

To get an operators manual go to http://www.dmcretail.com/newhollandconstruction/ They are @ 40.00 plus shipping. The document # is 6-82031NA. The button is for another valve that could be added to the loader. It is not used for the front aux hydraulics.

Mike - thanks for the info. Mike K

This winter i had the exact thing happen on my 185b... was a fuse in the panel above your head and to the right where the service /run switch is. My blown fuse stemed from a bad windsheild wiper motor switch that went bad during a snow storm so i took the cover off and ocassionally shorted across the terminals to get the wiper to work when needed. The problem was that it is on the same circut as the Aux and it eventually blew the fuse.

I want to thank those that posted about this. I have a 2005 LS 190B with enclosed cab that we recently purchased. I share it with my brother. Unfortunately you can not open the door with the skeleton grapple half raised. So my brother was cheating with door open and brought the grapple down and bent the front door. In the process he shorted out the windshield wiper. He took off front door and was using the skeleton grapple. If he was stationary, he could operate aux hydraulics. As soon as he was driving and operated the aux hydraulics, the skid steer died. To get it to start he had to unplug and plug back in his seatbelts. So he could only operate the aux hydraulics when stationary and before moving skid steer. I did a Google search and came across this site. Went out to the skid steer and checked the 15amp fuse. Sure enough, it was blown. Replaced it and now aux hydraulics works fine. Thanks everyone who posted about this.
