need some help guys. on saturday i started up my 553 and was using it to keep the shale piles orderly on my land as they where being delivered (18 loads) after the 2ed delivery i shut down the machine while i waited for the next delivery. i was out side the machine and reached in and turned off the key and then pushed down the throttle lever to shut it off when i got back in i had no power, no lites, nothing i figeted around with the seat belt connector and the seat switch connector after an hour of doing this and trying to jump these 2 connectors i was able to get the buzzers and the lites back but when i would turn the key,, nothing and it would start all over agin of no power no lites etc. etc. battery is new, fluids are all full. it seems like the problem could be the seat belt switch sometimes when i get in i hafta click an unclick the seat belt to get the lite to go out and start but i'm not sure. i would think with jumping the seat belt connector it would eliminate that switch but it didnt help same with the seat switch and of coarse the boom is down so you cant get into the engine compartment to check anything else. so where do i start guys to find a repair? luckly i just finshed my old dynahoe 160 2 weeks ago so i used that with the shale. thanks for the help

The seat belt switch is not your problem. Do you have any electrical power at the dash, will the head lights work. If you have no power I would start at the battery even though you just replaced it. Since the boom is down have you tried to jump it at the jumper post above the valve cover? As you know the boom has to go up to gain access to the battery. Since you have no power the solenoid valves will not open to allow the boom to go up. You can either reomove the oil lines and use another loader to raise the boom or you can probably unpin the cylinders at the top end and raise the boom with another loader. If you have no power going forward there are only a few posabilities, battery, battery cable connectiions, 15amp circuit breaker on the side wall above the battery, and wiring.
Power goes from the battery to the starter, then to the start relay 12V post, a wire at that 12V post goes to the batt post of the 15amp breaker, from the aux side of the breaker the power goes to the key switch which supplies power to the light switch when the key is turned on.
There is also a 6amp breaker that supplies power to the operator restraint system including the seat switch, seat belt and solenoid valves. If the only power you are missing is the operator restraint system components then start at the 6amp breaker in the same location as the 15amp circuit breaker.
My guess is battery cable connections at the battery.

when i click and unclick the seat belt, pull and push the restraint wireing i'll start to hear a hum or a slight buzz from the engine compartment, then the lites on the right pilar will come on, i'll work the seat belt till the belt lite goes out. the key is on the on position i'll turn it to start and all goes dead. i'm gonna try your idea of jumping through the power studd and i printed off the testing sequence for the driver restraint system from the l555 post and will check the system as well. this really bothers me usually this is a really reliable machine just to up and quit like this is not normal.
