This machine had water in the hyd system and froze last winter. When it was started it made a popping sound and lost all hydrualics. I took out the screen on the inlet line to the pump and cleaned it. Removed pump and found that it was bad (internal). Replaced pump and changed fluid. The problem now is that it still has no charge pressure. I pulled pump back off. No oil getting to pump. After pulling pump, i cranked the engine over and the splined section on the hydro pump is not turning. I can see the shaft on eng flywheel turning, but i dont know if it is turning the hydro. Could there be a sheered key on the drive? And if it is do you pull the engine to repair ? Thanks for any help. Wes

You probably need to pull the hydrostat pumps out and check what twisted off. I believe the yoke is splined to the input shaft of the rear hydro pump.

You can see the shaft on hydro motor turning at the engine coupler, when engine is running. But the splinned part on the rear hydro does not turn. Pump is off when i did this. Whith engine off, you can turn the splined female coupler on hydro, that the gear pump splines into. Why wont this section turn when engine is running? Thanks for any help. Wes

Its possible when its running there is just enough friction to make it move, but not when the engine is stopped? Either way, it does sound like a linkage inside the pump let go, you will need to pull it and find what it is. You don't want metal fragments getting into your system.....

There is a splined coupler between the front and rear hydro pumps. Time to disassemble the pumps.
