Hydraulic Fluid leak John Deere

Hi All! I have a 1988 John Deere 375 skid steer. It has a steady drip from the two drain plugs on the underside of the tanks (between the wheels). I have replaced both plugs and tried sealing them with plumbers pipe dope (per John Deere) and it holds for a few weeks then starts all over again. Anything that I can seal them with that won't break down from the fluid? Or just any ideas period will be appreciated! Thanks! Dave

try teflon tape. Get the pink stuff - its thick. While doing plumbing work, teflon tape would seal where pipe dope wouldn't -- Richard

Went to plunbing store today and no pink. But they had a thick Yellow that they use for gas line so I put it on both plugs today. We will see how it holds up!
