I have a CL 45 that the chain drive on the left front is jumping off.Pulled the wheels and side plate to find the axle to be flopping around. The outside seal is still good though.Borrowed the neighbors 2 1/4 inch socket to pull the main drive sprocket but can't break the nut loose.(yes I did unhook the battery so thatthe engine wouldn't start when spun.It has a gas ford industrial in it now.)I am thinking I need to get in there and fix a retaining ring of some kind. Any ideas? Anywhere to find schematics? Thanks, Steve

If that nut is already tight you don't want it tighter. You could have broken the two key ways in the axle where the sprocket goes on. To me it sounds like you have bad wheel bearings if the axle is flopping around. To get the nut to break loose you may have to use a 3/4" drive breaker bar with a pipe on it. There is no retaining ring or anything like that in there. The castle nut holds everything together. I can email you a picture of the axle.
