Well, I found out what was wrong with the fuel delivery in my newly acquired Deutz powered 863.
For the uninitiated, one of these is not like the other. Namely the pin that engages the rack is missing on the #4 injector pump. I also suspect that the missing pin is making the rack stiff to move or has cause a bend. I will remove the engine and do a thorough head off inspection, just to get an idea how much this unit needs before I try to run it under load. I did get it started but with the rack jammed it wouldn't come up to anything near normal RPM's.
I excpected to put some work in and the price makes it a good deal for me. If I had to pay a shop, I'd be upside down in a hurry.
