Default Changing oil in track motor final drive The bobcat track loaders have a gearbox between the track motor and track sprocket. This oil should be changed every 500 hours. A dealer service manager said this is often not done and results in very expensive repairs as the failure dumps metal particles throughout the hydraulic system. I understand on the T-220 to T-300 machines that it can be done easily from the outside, but on the T-190 and smaller the drive sprocket must be removed. Do you do this? How much of a hassle is it? Have you experienced any problems because it was not done? JRP

I have never do it as I have wheel machines so no help there. But the owners that have more smarts then money do change hub oil. A lot of dollars in that planetary.

I would recommend doing this. If you don't you are guaranteeing your motor to fail 500-1000 hours earlier than it should. When you don't change it, the oil in there drys up and or just over times leaks out the face seals, and then your left with metal on metal, bearing on race. And its just a matter of time before they explode, most of the time puncturing the shaft seal causing a leak thus needing the repair. I know www.loaderpartssource.com offers theses motors for the T180, T190 as well as T200,250,300. They are the best place to purchase them from. But if you can still get an extra 500 to 1000 hours or more out of your machine its an easy answer. It does take work, you have to loosen the track take the sprocket off, then you can reach the motor. There is two holes opposite each other, take one out and turn so its facing down, wait an hour or so, and turn it so hole is up, then fill with new oil, make sure you fill them completely.
