Gday all, have a bobcat 751 and it travels faster in reverse than in forward. Is this normal or is it linkage wear? Would it be an easy fix?

Its hard to say, do your steering levers bottom out at all? there is an adjustment to provide equal speed forward and reverse but i have read the instructions a few times and don't fully understand them.
How much faster is reverse? is it really noticeable? or does it just seem faster?
It wouldn't hurt to check the bushings, if they are worn it could be your problem because the levers may be bottoming out.

Thanks for the reply Tazza I have walked beside it and it is noticeable although the difference is only slight not a big issue for the moment. I will check the bushings later this week, do you know of any other possible causes for this, I was just hoping it wasn't the symptom of an underlying bigger problem $$$. Good to know there is an adjustment to provide equal speed forward and reverse so possibly only a minor issue. Cheers

It *could* be the seals in the drive motors too but i would doubt they would both go at the same time causing equal speed in reverse.
Usually if there is a problem it will affect one side only.

it could just need an adjustment of the steering bars , the two bars are bolted together in the middle of each bar with two bolts , mark the adjustment with an awl an a marks alot , the loosen the bolts and move the bars , retighten ad try it , this adjustment can also be used to remove a hook in the steering

Thanks Fishfiles, I'll check into later in the week. Gee this internet thing comes in bloody handy. Cheers

Tazza and Fishfiles, it appears the problem was where the steering arms link up to the control levers. The eyes have worn into an oval causing a slight steer to one side and the speed issue also mentioned. I've adjusted the steering arms (as per filfiles suggestion) taking out the steer to one side and also now have same speed forward and reverse. Thanks Guys
