I just purchaed a PT100 ASV with 100 hours on it. The air conditioning isnt working. I checked and there seems to be freon in the lines. The compressor doestn seem to be turning on when I turn the switch on. Any ideas or thigns i can do to correct this?

Most air conditionng systems have a low pressure switch that prevent the compressor clutch from working if the freon is low. You need to put a set of gages on it and see what they say. You can verify that the compressor clutch is working by appling 12v + to the wire.

That's exactly how i test mine, hot wire the clutch abd see if the hoses get hot and cold. I tracked my problem back to a burnt out relay after i confirmed the rest of the system was ok.

when i switch the ac button on doesnt it send voltage to the compressor and engage it? I will check the voltage first. How much pressure should I have when i put gauges on them. Do i put gauges on both lines and check them when the motor is running or not running. Hey thanks for all the help!

The voltage from the ac button has to pass thru the low pressure switch before it gets to the compressor. Since the compressor isn't kicking on you just need to put a gage on the low pressure side. A typical AC system requires 26-28 psi on the low side before the switch closes and energizes the compressor clutch.
