773 bobcat steering problem

Hi I'm new here and I need some help I have 773 bobcat steering problem on the left side the wheels don't have power forward and revers (right side is oK) And I notice a wile a go backward had more power than forward now I have another issue The dealer says over the phone is hydraulic problem is going to be 5K rough Any help please where to look where to start, what to do Thanks

It could be something simple as a pintle lever in the steer linkage is really loose on the pump pintal shaft. However, that would be more jerky and hard to control vs no go. It very well could be a motor or the pump for that side. About the easiest way figure out what the problem is first check the steering linkage. Then with the machine on blocks. Remove and cap the drive motor hoses on the weak side. Start the unit and pull on the lever. If the pump pulls down real good, the pump is good. If there is not much pull on the engine, then the pump is faulty. There is a case drain filter for each drive motor. Open it up and see if there is a lot of metal caught in the brass element. Both pump and drive motor failures on 773 are pretty low.

Do you where are those case drain filters? Maybe the filter is clog .I'm sure nobody check or clean those filters never

Lift the cab, look at the drive motors, follow the small hose back to the pump and oil tank. There will be alloy canisters, these are the sace drain filters.
It could also be as simple as bad seals in the drive motors. If the case drain filters are ok, you can swap drive motors and see if the problem moves. You can some times swap these hoses at the pump, but the older they get the stuffer they get and it can be really difficult to swap them over.
