Someone the other day had a Kubota that they left the bleed screw open on the pump and had similar issues, if you replaced the fuel filter of course you double checked the gasket was intact on the old filter.Replaced the pickup line and screen but it seems to lose its prime and won't stay running. There wasn't a check valve on the old line but the kit I bought had one. I believe the old one is on the bottom of the tank.check your fuel lines for a vacuum leak, that will cause it to lose prime , was there a check valve in the system that might have gotten removed?

I never had a problem myself but did have a young mechanic come and ask me once when he serviced a Kubota engine when I walked up to the unit I noticed that the gasket was missing on the old fuel filter I asked him about it he found it on the engine, it would start then die reprime and start an die.
