Well got my hunk of sh*t finally running.. then im hearing squeeling from belt... check it and its loose as a goose... can anyone tell me the proper tension on the belt without a gauge or its pry tensioner down some n lock it up??? Also what size are the bolts cause its a tight fit to be fumbin with sockets in there.. thanx again u guys saved my ass with the fuel pickup hose.. i has no clue n it was my problem...

The pointer on my machine has been stuck since I've owned it. So I loosen bolts and pry the tensioner all the way down to the bottom and then back it off some. I've read that will get you close. I dont remember what size the bolts are but you have to take the flywheel cover off for to give yourself more room to work. Its really not that bad.

There are several models of tensioners. Those who have a point should be tightened while the point goes to 1 hour. If it is without a point a with a spring and a screw -tighten to the end of the thread. If there is nothing, just hang on a bolt with a hanger that sticks upwards, put a pry bar between the belt housing and the hanger, press with one hand and tighten. The belt should be so stretched that at its longest part between the rolls / it is below / when pressed by hand should not move more than 1.5 cm or 1/2 inch. Do not overload it because it will damage the pump bearings and tensioner bearing.

Usually 9/16. I like a deep well socket. Good heavy pry bar and go as tight as you can get it. Usually you can feel the spring pop over.
