Hi I have a 1986 742 with the ford engine. The engine is a fresh rebuild. When I travel forward or back the engine will bog down after a short distance. I can only travel with the sticks part way forward. New hyd. oil and filter installed also. any help would be great. Thanks

Likely the bronze case drain filter is clogged.

Thanks for the help. My unit is the newer version without the bronze filter. My serial # is in the 20,000 range. I do think its in the hyd. system maybe in the return system after the drive motors haveing back pressure. thanks Scott

There really isn't anything in the 'return system' from the motors. The fluid from the motor goes straight back to the pump, the case drain goes back to the reserve tank and fresh fluid comes back in from the charge pump.
Is your aux hydraulics stuck on? is your park brake off?
I wonder if it could be a chain case issue too..... Something could be binding up?
Does it only effect one side? or both?

The governor on my 742 is belt driven. Be sure your belt is just snug, not banjo tight. Carefully check the oil in it on level ground. There is a checking plug and a fill plug. They are picky about proper level. Takes regular 30wt motor oil. Very $$$ to replace so keep the oil checked. The linkage needs to be responsive too. May solve your problem. Dick

I am just fishing here , you mentioned it's a fresh rebuild on the motor , did this problem start after the motor was changed , seen this before and it was that during assembly the guy had put a hydraulic hose in the wrong place ------jsut a thought

Thanks again for your help. The aux, stick is off and the brake is off. The previous owner had the same problem and I drained and replaced the gov. oil at rebuild. Doesn't the return oil go thru a check valve? That's what it looks like on the hyd. diagram. Thanks Scott
