what do you guys think of the 337. I see them priced around 20k through 30k. How long is the life expectancy of these machines. What should I look for and stay away from.

I really like the 337. It has plenty of digging power, reach, and lifting capacity. I was digging through 2.5' of frozen ground with a 24" bucket and "Twin Tiger" teeth. Try find one with a thumb, or you could always add one later. I believe the machine weighs about 11,000#, so you have to have plenty of trailer and tow vehicle. I think at least a 14,000# trailer. You could haul it on a smaller trailer, but will damage the trailer over time and also be overweight if you ever get weighed. As with any tracked machine, inspect the undercarriage. This will most likely be the most expensive repair on the machine. Excavators are slow speed, so they can still operate with some track damage, but budget at least $5,000 for track replacement if they are looking shoddy.
