    The most versatile landscaping attachment??

4 in 1 bucket, it will peel soil very nicely, open bucket to desired depth, tilt forward, back up machine at a decent pace........

Underground lines, pipes, cables, etc.--what to watch out for??

Also keep in mind sewer pipes / septic tanks / drain tiles. If the owner can't be certain as to where they are located, either don't do job or get owner to sign waiver.....

    hourly rates?

I charge $55/hour plus $75 setup&delivery. Things are still slow here. The jobs I didn't get where not due to cost but rather logistics / not being available. I never had anybody gripe about cost. I am on Vancouver Island, BC, Canada

    Metal costs....WOW!!!!

Funny you should mention the 12 pack. Some years ago I had to get some welding done, about an hours worth. I made sure to go on a hot summer friday afternoon. It cost me $20 (no invoice), I went and got a 12 pack of brew as a thanks for the quick service. Just shows that a little "extra thank...

    Idea to set power poles

How tall is the pole? If you can lift it and it sticks out/up, say more then 10', I'd be concerned about tipping over sideways. Let us know how it goes.

    853 Drainage

Look under the machine for a plate with 3 bolts, it would at the very lowest point of the “Keel”. It would about 2” by 5” in size. It covers the drain by about 90%. It is probably plugged as it should allow for some drainage. The bolts will likely shear off when you try to remove them, so I just...

    TIRE CHAINS

I run Vbar in back only on my 751 while doing snow duty and it works like a charm, does make a mess of pavement by gouging it.

    BOBCAT STILL WONT START WTF!!!!

You say “NO Smoke” in your post, that typically means no fuel or there is no compression. Try turning the engine over by hand (with wrench / ratchet) to see if you have a lot of resistance indicating some compression.

    236b tracks

I had a long chat with a CAT Rep about buying a 236 with the Loegering VTS Track setup. It is the same cost at the end of the day byuing a 236 and a set of VTS vs. the CAT Track loaders (247 / 257 MTL). BUT, an interesting side note to anybody considering using tracks, ever over the tire tracks...

    This is a MUST see....

so with mounting one of these puppies on my 751 I could do some serious firewood work. Hmmm, I smell a sequel the the Texas chansaw masacre movie............

snow - tires vs chains vs tracks

I use HD chains on my 751 which have the V pattern welded to the links for extra traction (rear tires only). I find this works very well pushing snow with a bucket, in particular if you encounter ice below the snow. The only drawback is that when you turn, you scratch the pavement very badly. I...

What is a new t320 going to cost me

Noting to do with S330 / T320, But I run my 751 with HD BC brand tires and HD Snow chains (with V - pattern welds on links) in the back. I found this to be the best compromise for traction. I keep warning my customers about the gauging I do on their driveways, but a small price to pay for not...
