LS 180 still starting hard after head rebuild and top end refresh

That’s good info. Might have to check the advanced sensor solenoid. Anyways pump is getting rebuilt in the shop. One shop wanted $2600 for a full rebuild, found another guy for $1500. I love how the first shop said it was completely rusted, the whole body is aluminum. Anyways I figure new...

    Removing Injector pump

I had the rebuild shop call me $2600 for a complete rebuild. I sourced one for half that from a different shop. Question, how do I set up the new pump for install. I read the NH manual and looks like I need to degree the pump with a protractor? I know I can figure it out. Looks like I'm...

LS 180 Runs but engine won't rev up.

Good luck finding new injectors. I had a shop rebuild mine. The one out of three was t completely destroyed. The problem is finding the holders. The internals aren’t hard to find. Mine were rusted in and had to get drilled and tapped out. I paid $130 per injector complete rebuild...

    Removing Injector pump

Update!! So after rereading the new holland manual 3 times, I decided to look at it from an assembly pov. The manual does a horrible job explaining how to exactly remove the pump in my opinion. Maybe I missed that section. Anyways, after realizing the 3 bolts that hold the pump to the front...

    Removing Injector pump

So now I have more issues. I confirmed I have fuel at injector pump. No pressure or any fuel at injector pump discharge. Solenoid has been by passed. Looks like maybe all my issues are pointing toward a bad injector pump. How does this thing come out. I see it looks like you have to remove...

LS 180 still starting hard after head rebuild and top end refresh

No did not touch it. It was hard starting before as well. Now I have no fuel out of injector pump. I have fuel to it but not discharge line, so I’m thinking it is all lean g towards bad injector pump. Of course it had to die half way down my drive. Gotta see what I have to do to remove the...

LS 180 still starting hard after head rebuild and top end refresh

Right, but it doesn’t start easy when it’s like 50 degrees out or even 60 or 70. And now I have no fuel out of the injection pump. So there’s that

LS 180 still starting hard after head rebuild and top end refresh

This engine doesn’t have glow plugs. Uses a grid heater on the intake.

I’m beginning to think timing but be the cause

LS 180 still starting hard after head rebuild and top end refresh

Once it coughs and coughs and warms up it runs fine. There is some blue smoke, but not much. I’m wondering if it’s a fuel issue. I would think it wouldn’t run at full speed if it was a fuel related issue. I’m still wondering if it is rings and compression related. I never did a compression...

LS 180 blows key switch fuse as soon as you turn it on

Sounds like a dead short. Something is definitely grounding out if the fuse is blowing. I might be able to send you the wiring schematic. Have to start looking for frayed wires and loose connections. If it just popped up all the sudden, trace back to anything you did or touched. Good luck

LS 180 still starting hard after head rebuild and top end refresh

So as a lot of you know my 04 Ls180 was hard starting and smoking…. and long story short , head was refreshed, decked new valve job, new rebuilt injectors. After all buttoned back up, it still starts like crap. Have to turn it over forever. But once it starts it runs. I’m to my breaking...

LS 180 Runs but engine won't rev up.

Yeah that would make sense your cutting the fuel supply when you disconnect them from the injector. The lift pump feeds the injector pump, which kicks up the pressure to very high. Not quite sure but at the injector tip it’s like 2,000 psi I believe. I could be wrong. I’m having same issue...
