can anyone tell me the function of the two seat pressure switches that have on ny skid steer . is it solely to compensate for operator movement or does each perform a separate electrical function. i have been going through hell with error 3 and the pedals locking up and i am now grasping at straws thank you sam

Your guess on the seat switches is correct. Only one needs to be depressed for the system to work. Your error 3 is telling you that there is is short/open circuit to the solenoids on the front of the control valve. The seat switches would not cause this message to appear. There are two solenoids on the control valve. Unplug one of them and see if the error appears again. If it does then plug that one back in and unplug the other one and recheck. One must be plugged in to avoid activating the error 3 code.
If you find the solenoid causing the problem, it will need to be replaced.
The problem could also be caused by the instrument panel itself but probably is one of the solenoids.

thank you for responding Mike. i did sort of think that the 2 switches were to compensate for operator movement and now you have confirmed it. i plan on getting back to it tomorrow and i pray that it is a bad connection or a solenoid as opposed to the panel. thank,s again and i will let you know the outcome sam

well mike i think we have success. it turned out i believe to be a ground wire at the rear of the engine block. it appeared to have broken inside the coating so most times it would make a connection but every so often would separate and i would have a error 3. what was throwing me was that unless the solenoids had ground there would be no power so i just assumed that i had a power supply problem.. thanks for your help sam
