553 2 Questions

I have a 1998 553 I just replaced the right motor and that fixed the original problem that I was having but now I have a whining sound coming from a block on the left side I'm not sure what it does but if I throttle it up the noise goes away. I have also read about a brass filter on other models does the 553 have one I have looked through the parts manual and I can't find it. Any help would be great.

Never worked on a 553, how long have you been running it since changing the motor? could it simply be air?

Give it a little more time, run it around a bit, it will purge the air out in its own time. Hopefully it is just air trapped in the system, it can take a little while for it to all escape as the hydrostatic circuit is sort of a closed loop, there is a case drain line that is for internal leakage on the motors that is replenished with fresh oil but it all takes time.
