I have a New Holland LX865. I recently bought a GPS tracking device for it but as I read the installation instructions, it says that the tracker cannot be surrounded by metal. Thats a tall order in a machine that is 90% metal. I called their tech support and the kid I spoke to didnt seem to know what he was talking about. Any input on device placement would be appreciated.

I would maybe suggest placing it inside the rear lights,. the whole unit is made of plastic, it would be out of sight as well,
and pretty much what they mean is surrounded 360 degree;'s too,
so, odds are if you place it any where that it is NOT 100% surrounded by metal it will be fine
you should be able to place it where ever and TEST to see if it sends a signal too rather easy!

but the rear light bar /cover is again plastic, (front light cover as well, minus the perforated metal cover over the roof section over the lights, a signal should get thru there IMO!
and below the lights there is an empty pod with nothing in it, to place as well!)
