Hello

I have an older Bobcat 743 with the Kubota v1702 engine and am wondering what coolant to use. Any help is appreciated.

Thank you
Dan

I actually use Bobcat coolant.

In those older machines I use a generic brand that states it can be used in most vehicles.

If you go to a good auto store they should be able to point you in the correct direction.

Will do.

green will be ok, but if you want better try peak final charge, it is long term designed for diesels. do a good flush first.

In the automotive Industry, I have been taught that green is not a a good choice for diesels from a cavitation stand point. I would use something specifically intended to be inside a diesel engine.

OK MY 2 cents,
this is a 25+ yr old machine I am guessing!
the factory used THERE brand coolant when new, and odds are when time came to replace they used the basic green coolant, that was the most common for the era
this stuff got you 25+ yrs of coolant, WHY change now to new coolant types or ???
if it was me I'd be either using the OEM bobcat coolant

or simple basic green prestone coolant!

why fix what ain't broken!
I got diesel machine s from the 50's that still have no issues and been on basic coolant since they were new!
can things be better today?? I guess, but I see no reason to change things that have proven track records of working on machines designed for the old basic coolant!
I would see more issues MAYBE SLIGHTLY by mixing the two than just sticking to one type IMO! no flush ever gets everything out!
I like "KISS" upkeep's!

and maybe read these or the many others on this site on this stuff

Kubota recommends ethylene glycol coolant for their engines: I've read that the cylinders are not sleeved so cavitation as much of a problem vs. sleeved motors. From Kubota: "Kubota Genuine Coolant is a premium Ethylene Glycol-based phosphate coolant certified for Kubota Engines."

Green in my 763 and I've had no issues.

The manual for my 753G with a v2203 engine states: "The loader is factory filled with propylene glycol coolant (purple color). Do not mix propylene glycol with ethylene glycol". I realize this is a different engine, perhaps if you can find a owners manual it should provide an answer
