Any clue what this part is?

It’s steel and was resting on the Bobtach assembly of my new-to-me Toolcat. If it were rubber, I would have guessed a stop of some kind. I’ve searched the parts manual for “stop” and they are all rubber.

I’m out of guesses. Any clues?

I wish I knew - it was just resting - unattached - on the back of the Bobtach plate.
