anybody seen a leak from this location on the hydrostatic pump? When looking towards the cab it's on the left up from the drive motor. Need to diagnose this part it's leaking good. See photos.

I just replaced a hose that ties in off the bottom , both my drain case filters and hydraulic oil filter.

Looks to be one of the relief valves on the control valve unit (main relief it appears). It's just a couple of O-rings and a back up washer to replace. Not sure if it's a usual item to leak as it tends to be the seals on the control valves themselves (I just replaced mine).

Thanks for the reply appreciate that info, looking up the difficulty of that o -ring replacement. Appears to be two separate leaks.

Its my guess, the spool valve is leaking.
Just replaced the spool valve seals in my 753. Mine were dripping but In the cold weather they leaked worse. I left my machine outside in the cold for the winter and during that time It probably leak 2 gallons.

I always took a can of brake clean and washed it down then blew it dry if I have access to an air compressor then run the unit to see where the leak is coming from.

I watched the video and anyone doing that reapir upon reassembly of the second spool he did might find a small engine valve spring compressor helpful getting it reassembled.

I just did the spool seals on my 853. Didn't remove the front cover......but I did remove the linkage arm on the bucket pedal, and just removed the center bolt on the tilt pedal which helped clear them enough to give me better access. The only thing that was a bit of an issue was the diesel fill hose as it wasn't as pliant due to the cold weather and age of the hose....so it was in the way when sliding out the spools. I bought three sets of seals; the quad ring, the lip seal, and another one that was a larger diameter so it was no use anyway. The SM for the control valve noted that if the valve housing had the "Long" chamfer, it required the lip seal.....which mine was (I pulled out old quad seals). So far so good.
As far as the detent balls, I just took an old pair of offset needle nose pliers, bent the tips in slightly, and used a dab of grease to hold the bearings....worked like a charm. Both of the old ones were worn flat on one side (the cup was dry) so I installed new ones that were slightly smaller as that's all I had around the garage....lubed up the inside of the cup on install so it seems to work.
