Does anyone know how the pump timing advance works that is on the Iveco engines in the NH skidsteers? I have an L180 that will start fine when its cold and the grid heater counts down, however when it is around 40 degrees the machine wont start. It will puff smoke but no start. I assume the pump timing advance isn't working correctly....

When it does not start, see if you have power to the cold start advance on the injection pump. There is a temperature switch in the block by the injection pump I believe. Just follow the wire from the injection pump. The grid heater will only work when the temp is below 40 - 45 degrees.

Pump advance is working. I pulled wire of sender by thermostat. This caused grid heater to come on and machine fired up. Put wire back on and machine has fired up every time since... Maybe a bad temp sender?? I decided to replace temp sender just in case...
