Now that I have installed a pressure guage on my little M371, I notice the system only hits maximum pressure (around 1500 psi) when the arms or bucket reach the end of travel. The rest of the time when they are in motion the pressure reads much lower.
Also, when the end of travel is reached and a foot pedal is still pressed it seems the pump strains... at least from the sound it makes.
So, my question is this: Would it be better to set the maximum pressure the pump delivers to what it actually needs to raise the arms or move the bucket with a full load?
Would setting it back to a lower pressure level (in other words, what it actually is calling for) be of benefit to the pump in allowing it to work easier at end of travel?
Thanks.
