S175 Tilt Issue

The skidsteer has been working fine for the last couple of weeks, but yesterday after about 5 hrs. of work the tilt stopped holding pressure. By this I mean, that it does not hold a still position and slowly goes down. It still lifts though. Any idea what can be going on here? -Thanks

Hopefully just a bad seal one of the tilt cylinders, a seal kit isn't too expensive.

I hope it's that simple Tazza, but it kind of feels like there is a valve that is stuck open or something. There is no loss of power but the cylinders will not stay put. I don't think both tilt cylinder went out at the same time. I'm going to see if I can talk to one of the local bobcat techs and see if he can helps out in trying to diagnose the problem. I'll keep you all posted, thanks

The cylinders are hooked up in parallel. it only takes one cylinder to leak internally to make the bucket tilt on it's own.
Just how fast does it drop when you release the pedal?

With the bucket attached, it immediately starts dropping, and without the bucket attached and with the tractor off, in a few minutes the cylinders will be completely extended out. Now that I look at it, what you say really makes sense. I think one of the cylinders must be leaking internally. I will be taking them apart tomorrow I hope to find that one of them is the problem, thanks for the info Tazza

Well Tazza you were right it was one of the tilt cylinders. The nut on the piston was lose causing the seal to break which caused the internal leak. I had never taken a cylinder apart, it was straight forward. I got some new seals and installed them. The bobcat is back in action. Question though, what is the best way to adjust the drive belt? I had to install a new one but I'm having a hard time adjusting the tensioner.

I had to install a new one but I'm having a hard time adjusting the tensioner.

Glad it was so simple, sadly it's not uncommon for this nut to come un-done. They are meant to be held in place with loctite so they don't move.
The drive belt, i have used a bar to hold tension on it and tighten the lock bolts down. The hardest part s to get the pointer on tensioner to move if it's stuck. It should point to the 3 O clock position.
