I basically blamed everything else also! Dealt with the Same issues your having lots of white sweet smelling smoke . make shore you find top dead center or you'll be chasing it.My valve clearances were way off lol.Checking the valve clearances is going to be the next step, thx. I'm hoping it's a valve issue because it should be a little easier to deal with than a ring problem. I ran the skid for quite a while, long enough to clean out any oil or old crude and the same just off idle misfire was there. Odd thing that at times the misfire is not as bad or gone when I bring the rpm down to just off idle as from idle and increase to just off idle, the misfire is always there? Ideas? One other question, how much should a dry to wet compression test usually show if the rings are in poor shape?
