Where is the best place to obtain plugs for hydraulic lines and what assortment of sizes would be best for a Bobcat 642b. I need to replace a hose and I don't think I can make the shop vac trick work long enough to have the new hoses made!!!

I bought an assortment of "corks" made out of rubber at the local Ace Hardware store. I bought a few of each size. I keep them in the shop with all the caps that come with new hydraulic fittings and hoses. They sure come in handy.

The place where you have the hoses made will have either steel or plastic and they should be reasonable. On the 632 for instance the line from the filter to the port block takes a #10 plug, the big ones on the pumps are #12.

I'm cheap! I use old hose ends and MIG weld the hole up, presto! cheap plugs. I'm slowly increasing my collection, but as always, you never have enough of the rite size!!!!
Hydraulic shops will have plastic screw on plugs, they really are only good to keep dirt out, not to keep oil in, they will still drip oil. For a good seal you need the steel ones, again a hose shop will have these but expect to pay for them!. The steel ones will not leak and if you need to run the machine they will hold the pressure back too.
If you don't mind loosing a little bit of oil plastic will do the trick. I think when i last got them, i paid 50c each.
