Hey guys. I keep posting questions but I'm a newbie and I really do a ton of research before I ever reach out for advice. As you may have guessed from my other posts, I'm trying to buy my first skid steer. I don't have much in the way of property, about an acre and a large shop and a barn, but with access to my place being somewhat limited, I've decided that a skid steer will come in real handy. I'm a metal fabricator by hobby and have been building custom motorcycles and vehicles for the past 10 years as well. That being said, I have no fundamental opposition to older machines. I know about all the updated features of the newer machines, quick attach, quieter, easier to control, non obsolete parts, ect.... however I can't justify spending $8k-$20k on a used modern machine. I have found some that need motors and stuff but have also found those unites to be hard to find parts for. A local guy contacted me because his dad has an old NH L775 he'd like to get rid of. has a small farm and because he has several tractors, he just doesn't use it as much as he thought he would. The skid steer is in awesome shape. The tires are like new. It has a Wisconsin gas engine that runs great. No hydro leaks or other annoying maintenance issues. Last year it started creeping on him and he spent $600 in parts to fix that issue. He is selling it with 2 buckets (big and smaller) and a set of pallet forks. He also has a complete parts skid steer (minus the motor) that goes with it that is also in good condition. Asking $3000. Now I've looked at some from $3000-$4000 that need engines or other odds and ends, but there's nothing like buying something that is running and being used. I've researched the L775 quite extensively but just haven't found much other than the specs. Does anyone have any experience with this loader? For reference, here are links to a couple pictures (haven't figured out how to embed pics yet) http://imgur.com/nsHJSrW http://imgur.com/yTLuLl2

Sounds like a great price, even better that it comes with a spare parts machine. You could possibly part it out and get a decent amount of money back on that. Or if time allows, get another motor into it and sell it as a running machine.
I don't know anything about this model, but any skid steer is better than none at all, the work you can get done with one is far better than you with a shovel :)

Thanks for the reply Tazza! I'm sure hoping to go pick it up tomorrow. I love old cars and have come to appreciate old equipment as well even though in the tractor world, new is the "cool" thing. I'm sure I'll be very involved in this forum for a while. Will def post an update once I get down there and see it in person.

I had a L225 (older) with gas engine and never had any problems with it. My advice is to get the owners, service and parts manuals for it. About everything you need to know is in these manuals. They may cost you $100 but are worth there weight in gold if you have any problems. Most parts are available yet and the parts manual will give you part numbers with can be used by a dealer. Go get it and enjoy. You will find so many uses for it.
