Hi new to this site, have been playing with this problem for several weeks NH L553 right side forward won't work but if you jack it up ( no load ) it works fine, on the ground no right forward I just fell pulsing in the lever like pressure is building them dropping, checked all chain sprockets reversed relief vavles, new filters, oil( by the way the small filter was collapsed when i went to rpelace it) took the the final drive apart and two bullets were badly scored where they go in the revolver. I am going to pull the final drive apart again this weekend ( Happy New Year) Any advice from you pro's Thanks, eat drink and be merry off your skidsteer

If you swap motors the problem moves too? if the bullets you are talking about are the Geroler rollers i'm thinking of, you will need to re-condition your drive motor. If they are badly marked, you will have a masive drop in power.

The case drain for the motors is in the end of the motor that goes into the chain case. You might try draining enough oil from the chain cases to remove the side covers. Leave enough oil in the chain cases so the oil pickup is still submerged. The pickup is at the bottom of the chain case next to the large gear. Start the engine, engage the parking brake and have someone gently stroke the hydrostat lever forward and backwards and watch how much oil is flowing through the case drain. If you have bad internal leakage it will show up in the oil flow from the case drain. You can also check the case drain of the pumps by removing the smaller hose on the side of the pumps and installing a longer hose and run it into a bucket.
Damage to the pistons is a concern. Something cause the scoring. Generally the metal that causes scoring starts in the hydrostat pumps. How was the plate in the end cap of the motor where the pistons with the slippers ride on. Damage usually shows up here. You should not catch a fingernail on any scratches on that surface or the slippers.
