Mustang 1200 many questions.

Help Support SkidSteer Forum:

Hi Bigcam I just sent you a email about the PDF then decided I should join , woot. Glad to be on here. Tim Alberta, Canada
It has been many years but i am still replying to emails as i said i would. Al though i don't reply real fast some times. Life gets busy and that email is no longer my main used email anymore so i don't check it as often. But i still do. It was so much easier when the link would stay working on the site haha
I will post a link here again and see how long it lasts. When it fails just email me. I did gain some other manuals for the 1700 as well because of some nice helpful folks emailing them to me.

I put in the linefeeds for you and went ahead and parsed the links while I was at it.

Well no one responded but i now have some answers to my own questions and will post it so the next guy searching can find it to help them. The Hydraulic filter is next to the battery at the front of the machine. Napa part number for the hydraulic filter is 1567 So far never found a Free manual for this machine but ordered one. Far as hydralic oil goes i found on this machine where it says to use Type A transmission fluid. I did some searching for more popular brands of machines like the bobcat 600 and 610. They claim the same oil as this but it seems many people claim they get away with any type of oil even 10-30 engine oil. Others say Dextron. so go search similer machines and see what you feel is right. I guess i will find my self some Type A transmission fluid and spend the big bucks buying it just to be sure. I will try to post other good info as i come across it just to help others. Don't worry bumping a old thread Because i have it setup to email me of any replys and mite still be around to help the next guy.
Did u ever find a manual?

Npence,

Did you get your info? My OMC 1200 has been in the family for 45 years. I may be able to help.

I just bought a mustang 1200 and am looking for similar info on this machine. I also need to replace the belt on mine. Would you happen to have a part number for a replacement?

This is what I got to have ready in case I break or wear out my belt. I haven't installed it yet. It is the correct width, but not as thick as the original (about 5/8" vs 1"), but it shouldn't matter.

Even though we didn't have answers for you, it is appreciated that you took the time to pass on what you found out.
I'd like to think that standard engine oil would do the job, but i simply don't know for sure. If it is a clutch drive, it needs the ATF, but if it is hydraulic/hydrostatic i see no reason why engine oil/hydraulic oil wouldn't work as long as they were thick enough. The pumps were designed to pump hydraulic oil, so i see no reason why you can't use the same.
I just found your post. It does take type a fluid, equivalent is standard dextron 3. I have not found any free manuals. The factory did not produce a service manual. I am working on the variable speed drive.

How's the variable drive project going?

I have rebuilt and reinforced my entire drive belt system. There is a parts machine I know of. Post some pics of where you are and we might be able to help.
