Anyone have a motor carrier bearing go out, would this be enough to stop a motor? Is it possible to replace the bearings without pulling the whole motor carrier group? Any thoughts?

S185, the last one we did ran a V2607, is that your engine?

If a bearing was to go out, yes, it sure can lock the engine up. We have seen oil pump failure that made the bearing material transfer to the crankshaft quickly, it locked up solid. This one actually had a happy ending, the bearing material linished off the crank and it was still standard size.

If it is a V2607, it does not run bearing carriers, if you spin a main bearing, you will need to get the block tunnel bored, this can cause a whole lot of new issues.
