Our 1996 LX865 had a fuel issues, where the engine would run “dry”. We fixed the issueby changing the fuel filter and cleaning the water separator. Then, a day or two later, the machine began to automatically accelerate and decelerate. My dad moved the rpm down to about 980 which is lower than what it used to be (~1050). It only does it when we use the machine. Any ideas what could be going wrong?

Sounds like it's still starving for fuel or the govenor isn't working right.
I'd start with the more likely parts, fuel and air. Ensure the filters are clear and that you are getting good fuel supply.

The man with the S250 Turbo takes the prize! Yeah we worked on it today, albeit on the jobsite with ONE 1.5 inch adjustable wrench, the delivery line to the pump was clogged. Now we are going to inspect the tank and any other line, to insure they are clean... thanks anyhow sir!

The amount of times an adjustable wrench can get you out of trouble is endless :)
Glad you found a spot that was clogged, better than still having issues and no bloody clue where to look next.

When you have a clog anywhere in the system its best to make sure the lines are clear the rest of the way through to the injectors. Its nice when you can find some help on the job site. Mike
