Hi everyone,

I'm having an issue with the right-hand quick connect lever on my LS170. The left-hand lever works as expected—when I pull it, I feel a bit of spring resistance for about half an inch, then it snaps down smoothly. However, the right-hand lever is a different story.

When I try to move the right lever, I can feel some spring resistance for about half an inch, but then it just stops dead. No matter how much force I apply, it won't budge past that point. It's like the spring is compressing and then hits a wall, unlike the left lever, which has a smooth "snap" action once the spring is compressed.

Has anyone encountered this issue before? Do you think I need to take the lever assembly apart to investigate further, or could there be a simpler fix? Any advice on how to approach this would be appreciated!

Thanks in advance!

Most of the time 95%+ the problem is that the latch pin at the bottom of the faceplate on that side is not sliding. There is a grease zerk at the lower outside edge of the faceplate to grease that pin. The zerk is recessed in a hole that is probably filled with dirt. If the pin is seized, spray it with good penetrating oil. There is a vertical slot in the front of the faceplate where the roll pin that is in the top of the latch pin slides up and down. That's a good place for the penetrating oil. I've already slid a 3' pipe on the latch handle to get them to go. Once you get it moving, grease it and get it moving well several times so the grease gets spread all around the pin.
The lesser chances are that the bolt that runs from the handle to the latch pin inside is broke or check that the roll pin mentioned previously and the pivot pin for the handle are in place correctly.
