I was using my L865 when all of a sudden I lost all hydraulics; no forward, reverse, boom, tilt, or aux. Oil level is fine. Engine runs great but feels like it is under no load at all. I hear a faint rattling sound coming from somewhere I can't place. Any ideas?

I would guess that your engine is no longer connected to the pumps. can you see the coupling or the pump shaft at all to see if it is moving?

That was my thought too. I took a quick look under the seat and I didn't see any obvious exposed connections between the engine and the pumps. It looks like everything is shrouded.

you can use a length of wooden dowel or almost any slender solid rod as a stethoscope to track down the rattle. If it is coming from the area where the pump and engine join you may as well begin taking things apart. Do you have any service books for it? I looked at messicks site and there was nothing there except for date of manufacture. there are others here with similar machines hopefully they will be along with advice.

This happened to me, just like that. It was the flywheel to pump connection, it broke.
What I did to verify that the pump wasn't turning..was remove the small pump and crank it over, not the same machine as yours, but the if that pump isn't connected to the engine (through the trans pump) then no power to any hydraulics.
I just looked at the parts site on Messicks and it shows the parts for me .. click on where it says "no description" in the upper left http://www.messicks.com/nhparts/NHCE/4154.aspx.

Irwin, can you send me your email address? I'd like to send you a screen shot from Messicks to see if I'm looking at the right parts. Send to [email protected]. Did you fix it yourself? How big a deal was it?
