I have a 1990 L553 that i rebuilt from a small fire. Some might remember my post from last summer. Anyway,Recently the boom lockout solenoid (on the left under the seat ) has become a dead short. Its been working fine for over a year, now its a dead short. Not sure how i can even get to it. Whats the best solution. My machine does not have the electronics in the cab for the seat-belt etc. Any help would be great, i just had 75 yards of grave delivered for my drive way.

I know its the electromagnetic solenoid. Im wondering if tapping on this will help. how in the work would you even get to it? Here is a link to an image i have of it when it was apart last summer. http://i594.photobucket.com/albums/tt24/cupholders/OVERFLOW/CIMG9157.jpg Thanks for your help. Tapping it won't do anything if its shorted, you will risk damaging the stem and causing more damage.

Finally got a good used electromagnetic unit off of a parts L555. That model had lock outs on both the bucket and the boom. These are bigger, and heavier than mine. Must have been an upgrade. After rebuilding this L553 from the ground up, this job was by far the hardest chore yet. Its done, finally. When i was pulling these used units off of the L555, i pulled the aux. hydraulics off too. Does anyone have a diagram as to how itr should go back together? the diagram on messicks isn't the same. Thanks Scott In Maine

Does your control valve arready have the 3rd (auxilary) spool? or is the setup you removed include a separate valve you plumb in down steam?
