Hydro Oil Temp Sender

I need some quick help. One of the wires that goes to the temp sender at the bottom of the hydro oil tank got damaged, and came undone from its connection. In my rush to try to get going, I cut the connections off of both wires and twisted them together. NO WORKY...Now it maxes the temp out instead of saying too cold. I need to put new connectors on, and reattach them, but don't know which wire belongs to which terminal. One is round, and the other is a spade.

The pu/ltbl wire should have the spade terminal and the black wire should have the ring terminal
