Fuel for 773G - Used Motor Oil & #1 Diesel?

My manual specifies #2 or #1 diesel fuel (or a mix) depending on the ambient temperature. Someone told me that used motor oil (filtered) mixed with #1 diesel to achieve an appropriate viscosity can be used. Would using that mix cause any problems? Could that mix be used in a standard residential oil burner furnace without problems? Could used hydraulic oil be used as fuel for either application? I know that waste oil burners will handle all types of petroleum based fluids with proper filtration, etc. but don't know of any required equipment specifications for those burners.

I am confused, you want to run a mix of diesel and old engine oil to run your engine on?

That sounds like a very bad idea to me.

How do you filter out all the abrasive carbon particles that used engine oil contains ?

What type of filter and filtering setup do you use?
My father ran a 50-50 mixture of used oil and diesel in all his farm equipment. He just used a series of settling processes and let the fuel filters do the rest of the work. If anything, his old D8 ran better with that mix. I have poured used oil in my farm tractor fuel with no problems. Sadly i have never seen them in .au, looks interesting though.
I run old hydraulic oil and diesel through my compressor. It's 35-40 years old, it doesn't seem to care what it's fed.
