was wondering if anyone can help guide me in the right direction we live out on some land and instead of buying a tractor I have decided that a skidsteer would be better for us I found a 2000 john deere for 9k and a 2000 bobcat for 10k both firm but the deer comes with a couple of extra atachments pallet forks and grader where as the bobcat is just the bucket big investment and not knowing a lot about them what do you guys think??

I'm bias, so i'd go the Bobcat because spares are easily available. Deere i don't know what the spares are like, i'd suspect a little harder.
I have heard Deere is harder to work on, especially if the machine won't start you can't gain access to get access, not sure if thats ALL deere models though.

that's comparing a potted meat sandwich to ribeye and bake potatoes , for only a buck more you got a real meal

Bobcats business is skid steers, they didn't morph from dozers, tractors and lawn mowers.

wow!! guess the deere is out of the question I have the 773 testing at my house now but for only having 1600 hours its pretty thrashed heat doesnt work and squeels bad this machine doesn't appear to be that well maintained I am going to look at an s175 later today for 2k more with same hours and has service records was wondering what the differance between the 773 and the s175 is? because they seem almost the same.

From memory they are the same machine, just re-badged. Or was it the S185?

Maybe I'll get thrashed for this but I helped a friend buy a 2000 250 deere and he is quite happy with it. There are some good and bad points to each brand imo. The deere is hard to see out of when the boom is up a couple feet and the 3 cylinder engine has a vibration at certain rpms.
But other then a hyd valve spool centering spring breaking Doug has had no real complaints. Its a larger machine then the s175 or s185, more in line with a 863 but with the vertical lift boom. They are quite stable do to a long wheel base and extra weight. As this was Deere first attemped at their own skidsteer (not a rebadged New Holland or a Owatonno) they did have some minor bugs that caused problems in the first series, but these were addressed with updates.
If you going to use the thing 30 to 50 hours a week then get just what you want or need, but if you going to use it 2 to 5 hours a week I'd take a clean Deere over a thrashed Bob, and any skidsteer beats the h#ll out of a wheel barrow

A s175 is just the new number for a 773 g series. and a 773 Turbo (10 more hp engine) became a s185. Otherwise they are identicle

Thanks for the info ! and your'e right it all beats the wheel barrow!!! and the deer seems like a good machine the 773 seems neglected even with almost a thousand less hours wich sucks why spend all that money and trash it even if you have idiots for operators get rid of them and find better ones! I wouldnt let any one abuse my stuff seeya simple I'm actually leaning towards the s175 because of heat and enclosed cab it gets cold here and you need it and has been maintained with records otherwise I would have definately picked the deer some problems maybe but still definately not a piece of junk!!
