Is anyone else having issues with the boss pins on a sv250. Broke 4 last winter one this season. Purchased a new sv300 with promises of them being stronger. Then tonight busted the ram pin above boss pin on it. Only 80 hours on the machine. Is it just me!? Or is there a flaw in these machines?

A relative runs the SR200's and has had considerable problems with pins breaking. He's busting the tapered pin on the boom. I haven't seen any of the broken pins but he said he went to a machine shop and had some made and now he's not busting pins.

Sounds like they are a little hard from the factory. Thats the issue, you make them hard to resist wear, but the trade off is brittleness.....
The pins i made were from 4140 which i got nitrided, they are super hard on the outside, but gooey on the inside. They went on a machine i sold a few years back, i think they will out last the machine.
