Hey there all ..Any one in Aus have the manuals for a BHB DirtDevil ...Have just replaced the two hydraulic wheel motors with a different series......The internal splines at the end of the original motor crankshafts were completley shot ....not repairable..... so I was off to the hydraulic shop for two new ones.....Thanks to me mate Greeny we were able to adapt two new motors ...slightly higher in ccs ....also dropped the relief cartridge pressure for a safety net ....The machine is in otherwise very good nick ....She pull the bend out of a river if you give her some puddin ....Mostly use it for stick raking and select clearing on small acreges...Anyway appreciate a reply ...Going to try posting some pics when the computer Guru gets home from school ..Rito All The Best to you ALL ........

Look up Tazza in here he is down there too and one of the bests
Sorry, i don't have any manuals for that machine.
Very well done on the repair, the higher cci will just mean it will move slightly slower but a little more power.
Looking forward to pictures.

Yeah Tazza ...Antfarmer ..wasnt' a cheap fix ...Couldnt aquire a new crank from SAI ...The intermediate axels [ drive shafts between hyd motor and planetry wheel hub ] were also flogged out ...The spline that goes into the planetry was almost unmarked ....the spline that goes into the hyd motor was completly shagged.....it would appear no lubricant was put on those splines at the outset ....Yes it does travel a little slower although these machines were never really considered to be a landscaping machine .....It has more grunt now even with the lower pressure reliefs ....Its a good thing in some ways as the system is not running up at the original 5000psi ....Hope that gives me a slightly higher pump life .....The machine has done around 3600 hours and during the strip out we found two bearings that were also badly in need of replacing .....I'm behind around 10 k ...thats with the new motors /bearings /seals/ build up and machine new splines / and labor........My alternative was to cut it up and put it in the bin cause it wasnt goin anywhere without the new motors ....Regards...

That's a fair amount to have into the machine, but at least it works now. Nothing worse than spending time and money repairing something that doesn't work out in the end. I'm sure you will get your 10ks worth out of it in the long run though.

Hello Cooee (and/or Tazza), I'm a brand new member of this forum, also from Down Under (west of Ipswich, Qld) and joined in order to tap into the collective skid steer knowledge you fellows have. I'm looking to buy a used skid steer to help me clean up and maintain my small property (ranch in America). I already have an old 46 hp tractor and have considered fitting it with a front bucket: but after looking into what I would need to do I have decided I'm probably better buying an old skid steer and keeping the old David Brown as is. I have found an old BHB presently for sale in a local dealers which looks to be in reasonable nick but I know nothing about skid steers and can't find any source of information on BHB other than your threads in this forum. My questions are a) if I buy it will I be able to find parts for it when I need them? and b) can I source any service or parts manuals for them? I'm a retired engineer more than capable of repairing engines etc (although these days I'd rather not unless I have too) but I won't buy something that isn't a good solid unit I can source parts for should I need them. Your help would be appreciated, Regards.

Hi longblock,
Welcome to the Forum!!
I probably will misrepresent this brand, as I am not in Aus, but I pride myself on being able to find just about anything on the internet. I could not locate this company let alone a skidsteer under those names. I found lots of vacuum cleaners....
My $0.02: Unless you have a romanticized childhood affection for these machines, or an unlimited supply of parts machines at your finger tips, I would go with something a little more mainstream, like Bobcat, Cat, NH, etc. You sound like you would spend a bit extra for something reliable, why not go with supportable, too?
Don't get me wrong, these could be great machines, but they never break when you are not using them, and everybody hates being broken down, but with little to no support system of spare parts readily available - extra painful.
Like I said, just my opinion.

BTW - just checked out Ipswich. Tazza is in the Brisbane area. Assitance with Bobcats may be closer than you think.

SkidRoe - Sush sush, i'm a long way away, really :)
I have never heard of that brand either, so i would suspect parts would be hard to find.....

Gooday longblock ,,, I,m not too far away from you in the lockyer valley .... I have the engine out of mine at the moment so everything is exposed ...If you would like to come out and take a look then you are welcome...I can show you how the later and bigger wheel motors are adapted and where the weak points are ...they are a very strong machine and all parts are procurable... let us know Regards Cooee

Gooday again longblock ...I spoke with Tazza this morning ( one of the moderators) ..If you go to his profile and email him he will pass on my phone number.....There are a few things to look out for on these machines and I would be happy to point them out to you ...My machine is in very original condition apart from wheel motors ...If you want to compare with the one you are looking at ....Also they are a fairly heavy machine ...around 3000kilo with the bucket ....Regards Cooee...
