Hi I just bought a 863 machine and I am trying to hook up a post pounder but I cannot get any hydraulic oil to the pounder. I pushed the aux hydraulic button in the cab twice to lock it on and still nothing. I switched it back to where I can operate it manually with the trigger and still no flow. What should I look for or check first? Is there anyway to check to see how much hydraulic fluid is in the machine and could that be the problem why its not operating the pounder? Thanks

The first place I'd start is to check for power at your aux control coils that sit on the control block. The stems they run on are very delicate and do go bad. You have done the rite thing, pressing the button on the dash, once for the thumb switch twice for the trigger for continuous flow if you have the older style without variable flow but you seem to understand about the button.
Hopefully its just bad coils or stuck stems, they aren't too expensive to replace (well not so much that you need to sell your first born child). Check for power first then work from there.

on our 763h you have to hit the aux button twive to enable then pull the right trigger.

Did you get it to work?
No, I have not got the aux hydraulics to work yet. I topped off the oil and tried what you said about the pushing the button and pulling the trigger but still nothing. Where should I look now? Thanks

Do you have power to the coil on the valve? As Taz has stated that is where I would look first, then you will know if it is a hydraulic or an electrical problem.

You said the coils are good, are you getting power to them? if you are, it sounds like the stems they sit on are bad. Remove the bolts holding the coils on, start the engine. Engage the aux hydraulics and lift the coils off the stems, one should be pulling its self back down, try both by reversing the switch on the handle. If both try and pull back down your stems are stuck and you need to replace them.

Ok it is looking to me like you have a stuck valve. Not familure how easy it would be to get to the cartrige on this valve but that is where I would go looking.

Are the lights coming on when you press the dash button? Maybe just a fuse

What do you mean when you say coils? I checked the aux electric solenoids on the control valve and the the trigger in the handle. Are the coils you are talking about the same as the solenoids? What about the rear auxiliary diverter? It makes mention of it in the service manual but I cannot find it on the machine. Could that be a problem? Thanks for the help so far.

The coils sits on stems that get pulled with the coil so you could call them a solenoid i guess. You should hear the engine change speed if it was the rear hydraulic dirverter, your machine may not even have one fitted.
The best way is to activate your aux hydraulics with the nuts removed from the stems that hold the coils down, see if they pull back at you trying to stay on the stem. If they don't its a problem between the handle and the coil, if it fights it will be the stem or the spool they control is stuck.

Owensage, Tazza and I moderate the site, A double post is not a major offense but it spreads the answers to your question around in 2 different places and makes it harder for people to help you and for future users to follow what happened and benifit themselves.
You likely don't have a rear diverter as most machines are not fitted with rear aux hydralics, They are only used for the jacks that mount on the rear frame towers.
Follow Tazza advice on the coils. If the electrics is working then the coils generate a magnetic field that holds them on the stems when the switch is activated on the steering lever. No magetic field = electrical problem. If the field is there you have a problem with a stem or within the valve itself.
Good to have you with us, let us know what you find.

I replaced the stems on my 753G yesterday as the aux hydraulics didn't work. I could hold the coil up on the stem and activate the hydraulics and it would pull down. The stems were bad and the fluid would not flow. Put 2 new ones in, its running just fine now.
